Noel, Missouri
A city of 2,124 people (2020 Census) on the Elk River in McDonald County, in the far southwest corner of Missouri, just north of Arkansas. Known as Christmas City for its seasonal USPS postmark, and as a put-in for Elk River float trips.
I want to…
Twelve tasks a working city site should answer in two taps. Where Noel’s official pages are silent, this list says so and points to the source — it does not invent a portal.

The official site does not publish an online bill-pay vendor. Call City Hall at 417-475-3696. Source: noelmo.org/contact-us

Elk River today
Noel sits on the Elk. Flood stage belongs above the fold, not in a blog post after the water drops.
USGS 07189000 — Elk River near Tiff City, Mo. Downstream gage in McDonald County; drainage area 851 square miles. Instantaneous values fetched 13 September 2026 returned a last sample dated 27 April 2026: streamflow 1,720 ft³/s (provisional, estimated). Gage height was flagged missing (-999999). That is not a live stage — treat the gage as stale until USGS posts a newer reading.

NWS Springfield river forecasts: Elk River near Tiff City (TIFM7). FEMA flood maps: msc.fema.gov. No flood watch or warning for McDonald County in the NWS alert feed fetched this cycle.
What’s on
Only dated items the city or a cited source still publishes. If the calendar is empty, the calendar is empty — this site will not invent a parade.
No dated upcoming events on the official city calendar. noelmo.org/events-2 fetched 13 September 2026 returns the heading “Upcoming Events” and no listings.
- The official Community page still describes a 4th of July celebration on July 3 with a parade, and names Rosetta Hartley at Noel Housing Authority for entries. It does not state a year. That copy is not treated as a 2026 date.
- The city’s last news post that named an event was “Truck or Treat” (18 September 2024). It is past. Do not reuse it as current.
- Christmas City postmark: cards are sent each year to the Noel Post Office for the cancellation “Noel, Mo. - The Christmas City in the Ozark Vacation Land.” This year’s window is not published on the official site. Ask the Noel Post Office (ZIP 64854).
Fetched 13 September 2026 from noelmo.org/events-2, noelmo.org/community, and Wikipedia — Noel, Missouri. When the clerk posts a dated item, it will be cited here with a fetch date.
If you are visiting
The official city site brands Noel “The Christmas City and Canoeing Capital of the Ozarks.” This independent guide keeps the postcard and the safety facts on the same page.
-
Float and camp
Official camping names: River Ranch, WaySide, and Shady Beach at 14332 State Highway 59. Confirm hours and shuttles with the outfitter before you drive. Wear a PFD; the Elk floods.
-
The bluff on Highway 59
Missouri Route 59 runs through the west side of Noel. The limestone cut is a real pull-off, not a travel-lane stop, and it is a tight squeeze for large RVs.

Christmas City postmark
A post office called Noel has operated since 1886. The holiday cancellation became widely known in the late 1940s. ZIP 64854. Ask the Noel Post Office for this season’s dates — they are not invented here.
If you live here
2,124 residents as of the 2020 Census (1,832 in 2010). Hispanic or Latino residents: 882 people, 41.5%. Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander: 212, 10.0%. A Spanish-language guide is in the queue; Somali belongs on police, court, utilities, and flood pages once those exist.
Schools are McDonald County R-1, not a city department. Property tax and plates run through the county, not a fake city portal.
City government
Noel is a Missouri 4th-class city (mayor and board of aldermen under RSMo Chapter 79). This site will not name officials the city has not published.
The official City Information page currently renders no body text — no mayor, no meeting night, no hours. When the clerk posts them, they will be cited here with a fetch date.
Municipal code (PDF the city posted): City-Codes-1.pdf.
Public safety
Call 911 for emergencies. A dedicated Noel Police non-emergency number is not on the official site as of this fetch. City Hall: 417-475-3696. County-level sheriff and OEM belong on later pages, linked — not duplicated badly.

This is a community-built information site. Calling City Hall still goes to the city. Meeting notices copied here later would be a courtesy and would not satisfy Missouri Sunshine Law posting duties.
